From the pitch to the court: Kiwis connecting in New York

While in New York for the All Whites match, Kea organised for New Zealand Football CEO Andrew Pragnell and former All Whites captain Ryan Nelsen to visit the Brooklyn Nets headquarters and meet fellow Kiwi and Kea World Class New Zealander Sean Marks, General Manager of the NBA team.

Andrew Pragnell, Ryan Nelsen and Tris Cotterill with Sean Marks, joined by Kea’s Guy Horrocks and Phil Veal, New York, Nov 2025

“The amazing thing about Kiwis around the world is that they always support each other, so when we knew we were going to be in New York with the All Whites and connecting with key stakeholders in preparation of next year’s FIFA World Cup it presented a great opportunity to meet with Sean who is operating at the very top of the game in one of the world’s biggest sporting leagues,” said Andrew Pragnell.

Sean gave them a look inside the Nets high performance environment and shared insights from operating at the top of global sport. It was an inspiring chance to see how elite basketball teams are built and supported behind the scenes, and a reminder of how Kiwis look out for one another no matter where they are.

The visit was part of wider planning for the FIFA World Cup 2026, as Andrew and Ryan met with people across the city and spoke at the NYC Flat White meetup, an active community of Kiwi founders and business leaders in New York.

Kiwis helping Kiwis is what Kea is all about.
