Pasifika Fest UK is a first-of-its kind celebration of Pacific culture in London, bringing together a massive weekend of exclusive film screenings, dance, culture, art and performance.
Held at Goodenough College in Bloomsbury over the weekend of 4-5 July, there are performances from internationally-acclaimed groups, workshops on activities as broad as hula and haka, as well as film screenings and panel talks about topics as wide-ranging as linguistics and sacred tattooing practices.
Screenings include the critically-acclaimed Māori Victorian Gothic Horror film Mārama, as well as Marks of Mana, an award-winning documentary by Lisa Taouma that explores the ancient traditions, stories and cultural resurgence of female tatau (tattoo). There will also be Classical Coconuts — an operatic concert reimagined through a Pacific lens, as well as contemporary dance group Ura Tabu, who have flown over especially for this festival, and plenty more.
