Renowned filmmaker James Cameron and Suzy Amis Cameron weren’t born here, but nonetheless, epitomise our mana and our Kiwi values.
Dividing their time between California and New Zealand, they share a deep love for their adopted home and a profound connection to its people and the natural environment.
Having worked in New Zealand for more than a decade now, James is liberal in his praise for our film industry’s world-class capability. On Wellington’s internationally celebrated film community, he has said: “I don’t think the world saw [it] coming – that it could be a world-class film production centre.”
They’ve helped facilitate and grown New Zealand’s global connectedness and have used their international networks for the betterment of our land and its people – advocating for our country with passion and pride.
The couple has also used New Zealand as their home base for their efforts in plant-based investments, from their organic farm here in New Zealand to a Canadian factory that makes protein concentrates from peas and lentils.
With a strong passion for New Zealand, the Camerons continue to draw inspiration from our natural environment, people and culture and tonight they become part of the World Class New Zealand alumni as Friends of New Zealand.
