About us

TVNZ is one of New Zealand’s best known and most trusted brands. The diverse backgrounds, perspectives and skills of our people are our greatest strength and every day we join over 2 million kiwis wherever and however they want to watch our content. Whether we’re breaking news, starting conversations, or simply putting smiles on faces, we’re all about sharing the moments that matter to New Zealand communities, regions and people.

The technology team is the engine room that drives the delivery of all our incredible content. We’re critical to ensuring that New Zealanders have the best experience possible when they come to us for everything from the latest news to their favourite show. It’s what they expect, and we intend to make sure it stays that way, whatever new technology unfolds.

To make this happen we need people who are committed to being part of the magic that captures our viewers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We want people who are as excited as we are about embracing current technologies while always looking to the future for the best possible solutions. We’re an exceptional team looking for talented people prepared to give their best.

  • Are you ready to join the team leading the elimination of predators from the New Zealand mainland in order to restore its natural heritage and support local communities?
  • The role of reporting ZIP’s activities and progress to our governance and funding entities could soon be in your hands.
  • Based in Wellington’s concrete jungle, but with opportunities to work in wild places in the South.

Zero Invasive Predators (ZIP)

Zero Invasive Predators Ltd (ZIP) is a not-for-profit organisation, which was established by the NEXT Foundation and the Department of Conservation.

Our mission is to rapidly develop the knowledge, tools and techniques required to completely remove possums, rats and stoats from large areas on the mainland of Aotearoa New Zealand, and protect such areas from these predators re-establishing there.

Achieving this will help to enable Aotearoa New Zealand’s native plants and animals to thrive across the landscape, and our on-the-ground work will also help to sustain communities.

Want to know more about ZIP, then visit our website.

What’s the Role Involve?

ZIP’s programme of work has grown quickly over the past couple of years.

And, so have the requirements to regularly report our activities and progress to the ZIP management team, and other governance and funding entities, to the point where we now need someone to:

  • coordinate and improve the current reporting system, including the development of performance indicators;
  • liaise with other ZIP team members to secure their specialist contributions to reports, but also leading the writing of some sections; and
  • ensure relevant reports are ready to be provided to different entities on time.

The schedule of reporting is lumpy throughout the year, and so you’ll be doing other tasks as well.  We anticipate that your writing skills could also help prepare publications for our website, so that supporters of our work can learn about what we’ve learned, and the outcomes we are achieving. But perhaps you have other skills that will help achieve the mission?

While this is primarily a desk job, working mostly with other ZIP team members, the role will provide opportunities to work outside of the office, including at some amazing field sites across the country .

You will Have

A proven suite of technical, and personal and interpersonal skills to be able to efficiently plan what’s required to complete reports by deadlines, extract contributions to reports from busy colleagues, and the ability to write really well.

And if you have experience in the predator management/conservation/ecological restoration sector that will be useful, but is not essential.

If this sounds like you, then we’d love to hear from you.

Entry to New Zealand from all countries remains strictly controlled to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. You may only apply for this role if you have the right to work in New Zealand. For information about New Zealand work or residence visas, please visit www.immigration.govt.nz
