Winner of the Michael Hill International Violin Competition, in concert

We welcome Kiwis based in the Big Apple the rare opportunity to hear insights about New Zealand’s Michael Hill International Violin Competition from its Executive Director, Anne Rodda, and to learn more about “the Michael Hill” and the remarkable artists and patrons who make this global celebration of excellence a household name for 25 years.

This event is being held to honour the late Sir Michael and the Sheila and Scott Smith family and their exceptional generosity in loaning a 300 year old fine violin to Jenny Jin, the 2023 winner of the Michael Hill International Violin Competition.

This intimate evening, held in partnership with Rare Violins of New York will feature a short recital by Jenny, performing works by Bach, Brahms, and Wieniawski on this exquisite violin.

At age nine, Jenny began her formal studies at the Curtis Institute of Music with Ida Kavafian. She currently studies at the Juilliard School under Itzhak Perlman and Catherine Cho as a proud recipient of the Kovner Fellowship.

RSVPs by 3 January is mandatory as the space has restricted capacity.  Please write directly to Anne Rodda to secure a seat.
