FreeUniversity of Auckland Alumni After Hours – Los Angeles 2023
Please join us at this Alumni After Hours event to hear about Professor Peter O’Connor’s fascinating research and to catch up with fellow University of Auckland.
The arts, through their vibrancy, colour and beauty return wonder and joy to our lives when we most need them. They can also help us overcome trauma in the aftermath of a crisis and learn about mental health issues.
In this talk, Professor Peter O’Connor will discuss his experience using the arts to focus on the mental health and well-being of youth, the homeless and those suffering trauma after a crisis or disaster.
Peter is Director of the Centre for Arts and Social Transformation. He has created and researched arts programmes in multiple disaster zones around the world, including after earthquakes in Christchurch and Mexico City, in the aftermath of Australia’s bushfires and most recently in the wake of severe flooding in New Zealand.
Canapés and drinks will be served.
Important note: photographs / video will be taken at this event by the University. If you don’t want to appear in any photos or video footage, please contact the events team at [email protected]
